Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 pound ground beef

1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped

1 red bell pepper, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup tomato sauce

1/3 cup green olives, sliced

1/4 cup raisins

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1 bay leaf

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

2. Add chopped onion and diced bell pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.

3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

4. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned.

5. Drain excess fat if necessary.

6. Stir in tomato sauce, green olives, raisins, cumin, oregano, bay leaf, salt, and pepper.

7. Lower heat and simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

8. Remove bay leaf and serve hot with rice and plantains.
