With minimal ingredients and effort, this easy recipe is perfect for elevating weeknight dinners or impressing guests. It’s ideal for anyone who loves quick comfort food, healthy side dish ideas, or simple, baked veggie meals. Great for dinner ideas, holiday menus, or adding a cheesy twist to your meal prep.

Ingredients

4 large yellow onions

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme or parsley

1 cup shredded Asiago cheese

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. Slice onions into ¾-inch thick rounds. Remove loose outer skins but keep slices intact.

3. Heat butter and olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat.

4. Sear onion slices for 2–3 minutes per side until golden. Season with salt and pepper.

5. Transfer skillet to the oven and bake for 15–20 minutes, until onions are tender.

6. Remove from oven, top each onion with Asiago cheese.

7. Broil for 2–4 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.

8. Garnish with thyme or parsley. Serve hot.

Notes

Use freshly shredded Asiago for the best melt and flavor.

If broiling, keep a close eye—cheese can go from golden to burned fast.
