Ingredients

For the Casserole:

3 cups cooked chicken, diced or shredded

1 ½ cups ham, diced

2 cups Swiss cheese, shredded

1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

For the Creamy Sauce:

3 tablespoons butter

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups milk (whole milk or half-and-half)

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

For the Crispy Topping:

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

2 tablespoons butter, melted

¼ teaspoon paprika

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven – Set oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the Chicken and Ham – Spread the diced chicken and ham evenly in the baking dish.
  3. Make the Cheese Sauce
    • Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
    • Whisk in 3 tablespoons flour and stir for 1 minute.
    • Slowly pour in 2 cups of milk, whisking constantly.
    • Add Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until thickened (about 3-5 minutes).
    • Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of Swiss cheese and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese until melted.
  4. Assemble the Casserole – Pour the cheese sauce over the chicken and ham. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of Swiss cheese on top.
  5. Prepare the Crispy Topping
    • In a bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs, melted butter, and paprika.
    • Evenly sprinkle over the casserole.
  6. Bake – Place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Rest and Serve – Let the casserole sit for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
