Ingredients
9 sheets lasagna noodles
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
15 ounces ricotta cheese
1 large egg
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a skillet. Add onions and cook until soft.
2. Stir in garlic, then add beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
3. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, seasoning, salt, pepper, and basil. Simmer for 30 minutes.
4. In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, salt, pepper, and parmesan until smooth.
5. Boil lasagna noodles until al dente. Drain and lay flat.
6. In a 9×13-inch dish, layer sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella. Repeat.
7. Finish with sauce and top with mozzarella and parmesan.
8. Cover with foil and bake at 375°F for 25 minutes.
9. Uncover and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
10. Let rest 10–15 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Letting the lasagna rest after baking helps it set for easier slicing.
Use extra sauce if using no-boil noodles to ensure they soften properly.
