Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
0.75 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
2.25 cups all-purpose flour
0.25 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Cream the butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
2. Add the egg and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and fully combined.
3. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
4. Load dough into a cookie press fitted with desired disc shape.
5. Press cookies onto ungreased baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 8–10 minutes, until edges just begin to turn golden.
7. Cool cookies on baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
8. Decorate cooled cookies with icing, sprinkles, or chocolate as desired.
Notes
Make sure the butter is truly at room temperature for best consistency and pressing ease.
Use ungreased cookie sheets—greased ones may prevent the dough from sticking during pressing.
