Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, grated or cubed

3/4 cup buttermilk

1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1 cup cooked crab meat (lump or claw), drained

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 egg, beaten (optional, for brushing)

2 tablespoons melted butter (for finishing)

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.

2. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3. Add cheddar cheese and mix lightly.

4. Pour in buttermilk and stir until a soft dough forms—do not overmix.

5. In a separate bowl, mix crab meat with parsley, salt, and pepper.

6. Flatten a scoop of dough in your hand, place crab filling in the center, and fold dough around it.

7. Place sealed biscuits on a lined baking tray.

8. Brush tops with beaten egg if using.

9. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes until golden.

10. Brush baked biscuits with melted butter and sprinkle extra parsley.

Notes

Use very cold butter for the flakiest biscuit texture—freeze it for 10 minutes before grating.

Avoid overworking the dough to keep the biscuits tender and soft.
