1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/2 lb lump crab meat (fresh or canned)
2 tbsp butter
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 cups seafood stock (or chicken stock)
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup half-and-half
1/4 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Cracked black pepper (for garnish)
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onions and cook until translucent (about 3-4 minutes). Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir continuously for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the seafood stock. Stir in heavy cream and half-and-half. Bring to a gentle simmer.
