8 oz spaghetti or linguine
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 tbsp unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
½ tsp salt (or to taste)
½ tsp black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Zest of ½ lemon (optional)
Instructions
- Boil salted water and cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup pasta water, then drain.
- Heat olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, reduce heat and melt remaining butter. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
- Stir in cream, bring to a gentle simmer, then add Parmesan, red pepper flakes, and lemon zest (optional).
- Let sauce thicken slightly. Taste and adjust seasoning.
