Ingredients

8 oz spaghetti or linguine

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 tbsp unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

½ tsp salt (or to taste)

½ tsp black pepper

1 tbsp olive oil

½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Zest of ½ lemon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil salted water and cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve ½ cup pasta water, then drain.
  2. Heat olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat and melt remaining butter. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in cream, bring to a gentle simmer, then add Parmesan, red pepper flakes, and lemon zest (optional).
  5. Let sauce thicken slightly. Taste and adjust seasoning.
  6. Return shrimp to the pan, add pasta, and toss to coat. Add a splash of pasta water if sauce is too thick.
  7. Garnish with parsley and extra pepper. Serve hot.
