Ingredients
12 oz bowtie pasta (farfalle)
1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
1 small onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, drained
1/2 cup beef broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh parsley or basil, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the bowtie pasta until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
- Brown the Beef: In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain excess grease.
- Sauté the Aromatics: Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Build the Sauce: Stir in the salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Pour in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and let simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- Make It Creamy: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Simmer for another 2–3 minutes until smooth and well combined.
- Combine Pasta & Sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water.
- Add Cheese & Serve: Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the pasta and stir until melted. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil, then serve warm.
