Ingredients

12 oz bowtie pasta (farfalle)

1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)

1 small onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, drained

1/2 cup beef broth

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh parsley or basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the bowtie pasta until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the Beef: In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain excess grease.
  3. Sauté the Aromatics: Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Build the Sauce: Stir in the salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Pour in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and let simmer for 5–7 minutes.
  5. Make It Creamy: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Simmer for another 2–3 minutes until smooth and well combined.
  6. Combine Pasta & Sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water.
  7. Add Cheese & Serve: Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the pasta and stir until melted. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil, then serve warm.
