Ingredients

1 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup light corn syrup

1/4 cup water

1 packet unsweetened Kool-Aid (any flavor)

2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin

1/4 cup cold water (for blooming gelatin)

Food coloring (optional)

Cornstarch or powdered sugar (for dusting)

Candy thermometer

Piping bags or squeeze bottles

Wax paper or silicone mat


Instructions

  1. Bloom the gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water for 5–10 minutes.

  2. In a saucepan, mix sugar, corn syrup, and 1/4 cup water. Heat and stir until sugar dissolves.

  3. Bring the syrup to a boil without stirring. Heat to 240°F.

  4. Remove from heat and stir in bloomed gelatin and Kool-Aid. Add food coloring if desired.

  5. Let cool slightly, then transfer to piping bags or bottles.

  6. Pipe into long lines on a wax paper or silicone mat.

  7. Let sit at room temperature for 4+ hours until set.

  8. Dust with cornstarch or powdered sugar. Cut and store.
