Ingredients

100g kunefe (kataifi) dough

50g unsalted butter

150ml sweetened condensed milk

80g finely chopped pistachios

1/4 tsp cardamom powder (optional)

200g semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips

1 tbsp coconut oil

2 tbsp crushed pistachios (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add kunefe dough and toast it for 5–6 minutes until golden brown and aromatic.

2. Transfer the toasted kunefe to a mixing bowl. Add sweetened condensed milk, chopped pistachios, and cardamom powder. Stir until a sticky dough forms.

3. Roll the mixture into 1-tablespoon-sized balls and place on a parchment-lined tray. Chill for 20 minutes.

4. Melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave or double boiler until smooth. Dip each ball into the melted chocolate and return to the tray.

5. While chocolate is still wet, sprinkle with crushed pistachios.

6. Chill the coated balls for at least 30 minutes or until chocolate hardens. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

You can prepare the filling a day ahead and refrigerate overnight for deeper flavor infusion.

For a vegan version, use plant-based condensed milk and dairy-free chocolate.
