Ingredients
For the Garlic Butter Shrimp:
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 tbsp unsalted butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp olive oil
½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
For the Béchamel Sauce:
3 tbsp unsalted butter
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups whole milk (warmed)
½ cup heavy cream
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
¼ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
For the Lasagna Layers:
9–12 lasagna noodles (cooked al dente)
1 ½ cups ricotta cheese
1 large egg
1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Lasagna Noodles
- Boil lasagna noodles in salted water until al dente. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Garlic Butter Shrimp
- Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add garlic and red pepper flakes; sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink.
- Stir in lemon juice and parsley. Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 3: Make the Béchamel Sauce
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute until smooth.
- Gradually add warm milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
- Stir in heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Add Parmesan cheese and stir until melted. Remove from heat.
Step 4: Prepare the Ricotta Mixture
- Mix ricotta cheese and egg in a bowl until smooth.
Step 5: Assemble the Lasagna
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Spread a thin layer of béchamel sauce in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Layer lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, shrimp, béchamel sauce, and mozzarella.
- Repeat the layering process and finish with a final layer of béchamel and cheese.
Step 6: Bake the Lasagna
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley.
