Ingredients

For the Garlic Butter Shrimp:

1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

3 tbsp unsalted butter

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp olive oil

½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

2 tbsp fresh lemon juice

1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

For the Béchamel Sauce:

3 tbsp unsalted butter

3 tbsp all-purpose flour

2 cups whole milk (warmed)

½ cup heavy cream

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

¼ tsp ground nutmeg (optional)

For the Lasagna Layers:

912 lasagna noodles (cooked al dente)

1 ½ cups ricotta cheese

1 large egg

1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)

1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)


Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Lasagna Noodles

  1. Boil lasagna noodles in salted water until al dente. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Garlic Butter Shrimp

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add garlic and red pepper flakes; sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink.
  4. Stir in lemon juice and parsley. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 3: Make the Béchamel Sauce

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute until smooth.
  3. Gradually add warm milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
  4. Stir in heavy cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  5. Add Parmesan cheese and stir until melted. Remove from heat.

Step 4: Prepare the Ricotta Mixture

  1. Mix ricotta cheese and egg in a bowl until smooth.

Step 5: Assemble the Lasagna

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Spread a thin layer of béchamel sauce in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. Layer lasagna noodles, ricotta mixture, shrimp, béchamel sauce, and mozzarella.
  4. Repeat the layering process and finish with a final layer of béchamel and cheese.

Step 6: Bake the Lasagna

  1. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  2. Remove foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  3. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley.
