Ingredients

113g unsalted butter, softened

100g brown sugar

50g granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 egg yolk

1 tsp vanilla extract

160g all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

150g semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake or pie pan or line with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Add the egg and extra yolk, then mix in vanilla extract until fully combined.

4. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt just until combined—do not overmix.

5. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.

6. Press dough into prepared pan and smooth the top.

7. Bake for 22–27 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is just set.

8. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a richer taste, use dark chocolate chunks instead of chips.

Letting the cookie cool before slicing helps it set properly and slice cleanly.
