This pie is perfect for dinner ideas when you want something sweet to finish a meal, or when you’re putting together a selection of food ideas for a party. It also makes a fantastic make-ahead option for easy hosting. Slice it warm or chilled, serve it plain or loaded with whipped cream—either way, this pie guarantees indulgent satisfaction with every bite.

Ingredients

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 9-inch unbaked pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

Optional: whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges.
  2. In a large bowl, stir melted butter and sugar together until well combined.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly.
  4. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Stir until the batter is smooth.
  5. Add vanilla extract and mix again until incorporated.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared crust and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the top is set and crackly, but the center remains soft.
  8. Cool for 15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature with your favorite toppings.
