Ingredients

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup whole milk

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons pure mint extract

12 drops green food coloring (optional)

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate

Pinch of salt


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, milk, sugar, and salt until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add mint extract and food coloring (if using), then stir to combine.
  3. Cover and chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  4. Pour chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  5. In the last 5 minutes of churning, add the chocolate chips.
  6. Transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 4 hours until firm.
  7. Let sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping.
