Ingredients

0.75 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced

0.25 cup cornstarch

0.5 cup soy sauce

0.5 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

0.5 cup water

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

2 stalks green onions, chopped

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

3 cups cooked white rice (for serving)


Instructions

1. Slice beef thinly against the grain and toss in cornstarch to coat evenly.

2. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and water until smooth.

3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the beef in batches until browned and crisp on the edges. Remove and set aside.

4. Add the sauce to the skillet and let it simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.

5. Return the beef to the skillet, toss to coat in the sauce, and cook for another minute.
