Ingredients
1 ½ pounds ground beef (85% lean)
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup shredded provolone cheese (or mozzarella)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup breadcrumbs
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
Optional garnish: freshly chopped parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté bell peppers and onion for 5-7 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 more minute. Let cool.
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Fold in half of the shredded provolone and cheddar cheeses.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf on a lined or greased baking dish.
- Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes.
- Remove from oven, top with remaining cheese, and bake another 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let rest for 10 minutes, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve.
