Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup raspberry jam
1/4 cup fresh raspberries, chopped
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 to 2 teaspoons milk
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Let the puff pastry thaw until cold but workable, then unfold it on a lightly floured surface.
3. In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
4. Cut the puff pastry into 4 large heart shapes.
5. Use a knife to lightly score a smaller heart inside each one, leaving a border around the edge without cutting all the way through.
6. Spoon a little cream cheese mixture into the center of each heart.
7. Top with raspberry jam and a few chopped fresh raspberries.
8. Whisk the egg with the water and brush the outer edges of the pastry.
9. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until puffed and golden brown.
10. Let the danishes cool slightly.
11. Stir the powdered sugar with enough milk to make a drizzle, then spoon it over the warm danishes.
12. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Do not overfill the centers, or the raspberry mixture may spill over and keep the pastry from puffing neatly around the edges.
