Ingredients
170g unsalted butter
200g granulated sugar
100g brown sugar
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
100g all-purpose flour
60g cocoa powder (Dutch-processed or dark)
1/2 teaspoon salt
120g semi-sweet chocolate chunks
180g red candy melts or glaze
80g chocolate fondant or flat candy strips
12 gold fondant buckles or candy belt buckles
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 or 9×9 inch pan with parchment paper.
2. In a saucepan, melt the butter, then stir in both sugars until smooth.
3. Remove from heat and whisk in the eggs one at a time. Stir in vanilla extract.
4. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold gently to combine.
5. Stir in chocolate chunks. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the center is just set. Let cool completely.
7. Melt red candy melts and spread evenly over the cooled brownies. Smooth out with an offset spatula.
8. Slice brownies into squares. Add a chocolate belt across each piece.
9. Top with a gold fondant or candy buckle in the center.
10. Let the glaze and decorations set before serving.
