Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 medium yellow onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/3 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons steak sauce (like A1)
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 cup beef broth
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 slices cheddar or provolone cheese
4 soft burger buns
Instructions
1. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 4-5 minutes.
2. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
4. Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, steak sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, salt, and pepper. Simmer 5-7 minutes until thickened.
5. Toast burger buns lightly.
6. Spoon beef mixture onto bottom bun, top with a slice of cheese, and close with top bun.
7. Serve hot with your favorite sides.
Notes
You can swap cheddar for pepper jack if you want a spicy kick.
For extra saucy texture, add an extra splash of broth while simmering.
