Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (80/20 recommended)

1 small yellow onion, finely diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon yellow mustard

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and black pepper, to taste

6 slices frozen garlic Texas toast

1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (optional)

Fresh chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Optional toppings: shredded cheddar cheese, pickles, jalapeño slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven according to Texas toast package (usually 425°F/220°C). Bake toast until golden and crisp on both sides, about 5–7 minutes per side. Set aside.
  2. Brown the beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook for 5–6 minutes, breaking it up as it browns.
  3. Add onions and garlic, cooking for another 3–4 minutes until onions are soft.
  4. Stir in sauces and seasonings: ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire, mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper. Let simmer 6–8 minutes until thickened.
  5. Spoon beef mixture generously over each Texas toast slice.
  6. Optional: Top with shredded cheese and broil for 1–2 minutes until melted.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
