Description

Cinnamon Twists are the kind of easy homemade treat that instantly makes the kitchen smell warm, buttery, and inviting. These flaky pastry twists are crisp on the outside, light in the center, and coated with a sweet cinnamon sugar finish that makes them perfect for breakfast ideas, brunch spreads, dessert platters, holiday baking, or a quick sweet snack. If you are looking for an easy recipe that feels bakery worthy without much effort, these Cinnamon Twists are a delicious choice to keep in your list of food ideas.

Ingredients

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 tablespoons light brown sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 pinch salt

1 large egg

1 tablespoon water

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Lightly flour your work surface and unfold the puff pastry sheet. Roll gently just to smooth the folds.

3. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

4. Brush the pastry with melted butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the top. Press lightly so it sticks.

5. Cut the pastry into 10 to 12 even strips.

6. Twist each strip several times and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

7. Whisk the egg with the water and brush the tops of the twists lightly.

8. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.

9. Cool slightly before serving so the coating can set.

Notes

Do not let the puff pastry get too warm before twisting, or the layers can lose their lift and bake up flat instead of crisp and flaky.
