French Silk Brownies are the ultimate layered chocolate dessert for anyone who loves rich, bakery-style treats at home. With a fudgy brownie base, a light and creamy chocolate silk filling, and a fluffy whipped topping, this easy recipe brings together everything you want in a chocolate dessert. It is perfect for holiday baking, birthday desserts, family gatherings, and anyone searching for easy dessert ideas, brownie recipes, chocolate recipes, party desserts, and food ideas that feel both impressive and comforting.

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, divided

1 3/4 cups granulated sugar, divided

4 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract, divided

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, melted and slightly cooled

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons chocolate shavings

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

2. Melt 1/2 cup of the butter and mix it with 1 cup of the granulated sugar, 2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

3. Stir in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt until just combined.

4. Spread the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the center is set.

5. Let the brownie base cool completely in the pan.

6. Beat the remaining 1/2 cup butter with the remaining 3/4 cup granulated sugar until light and creamy.

7. Add the melted chocolate and remaining 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, then beat until smooth and fluffy.

8. Beat in the remaining 2 eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, until the filling becomes silky and airy.

9. Spread the chocolate silk layer over the cooled brownies and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

10. Whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.

11. Spread the whipped cream over the chilled silk layer.

12. Finish with chocolate shavings, chill for at least 1 more hour, then slice and serve.

Notes

Do not spread the chocolate silk layer over warm brownies, or the filling can melt and lose those clean, beautiful layers.
