Description

This Strawberry Dump Cake is the kind of easy dessert that makes people think you spent far more time on it than you actually did. With layers of sweet strawberry filling, fresh berries, creamy pockets of cream cheese, and a buttery cake topping, it bakes into a warm, crowd-pleasing treat that works beautifully for spring gatherings, summer parties, holiday tables, or an everyday sweet craving. It is a simple baked dessert, an easy recipe for beginners, and one of those go-to food ideas you can serve as a quick dessert, easy party dessert, or make-ahead treat with whipped cream or ice cream.

Ingredients

2 cans strawberry pie filling

2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 box vanilla cake mix, 15.25 ounces

3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 tablespoons powdered sugar, optional for garnish

1 cup whipped cream, optional for serving

Fresh mint leaves, optional for garnish

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly across the bottom of the dish.

3. Scatter the sliced fresh strawberries over the pie filling.

4. Dollop the softened cream cheese across the strawberry layer in small spoonfuls.

5. Sprinkle the dry vanilla cake mix evenly over the top, covering the fruit as much as possible.

6. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix.

7. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, until the top is golden and the filling is bubbling around the edges.

8. Let the cake rest for 15 minutes before serving.

9. Top with whipped cream, powdered sugar, and mint if desired.

Notes

Do not leave large dry patches of cake mix on top before baking, or you may end up with powdery spots instead of a buttery golden topping.
