  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks or chips

Instructions
 

  • Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add egg and vanilla; beat until well combined.
  • Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt separately. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients.
  • Fold in chocolate chunks or chips gently.
  • Scoop dough onto parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake at 350°F for 9–11 minutes.
  • Cool on sheet for 5 mins, then transfer to wire rack.

Notes

For added flair, sprinkle with flake salt before baking. Freeze extra dough for quick baking anytime.
